THE BABOB OF BRIXTON

If I had a throne, I’d like to be called:

The Nizam of Hyderabad, the Maharajah of Travancore, the Nabob of Jabbulpore, the Begum of Borzal, the Nawab of Mysore, the Rance of Gulnave, the Ahkoond of Swat, the Rao of Rohikund, the Gaikwar of Baroda…….

In a large palace, middle of a jungle, hareems of Elephants, Arabian Nights as a lucid dream.

These chaps existed not so many years ago (the last dynasties were abolished by Indira Gandhi in the ’70’s), in isolated palaces.  Living a fuedal life, in a very different India.  Surely they’re a miss, for the names alone.
