Glimpses

Sun rises, Laos

Glimpses

All I’m getting are these glimpses

of nothingness that I once breathed

and danced in like a wild horse
swept up on a summer breeze,
left out to dry
like a leaf floats on high
above caged fire light,
as a red moon grows lower
to the jagged rock horizon,
stillness is spreading thick
like golden honey
over our meadow.
I’ll cry out
without words
to something
untouched;
without knowing its name,
I am in love with something
that is outside of this
maze.
