A Turtle Awake – Words of Wisdom

“The real miracle is not to walk on water. The real miracle is to walk on the green earth.” – Thich Nath Hanh

“Re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem.” – Walt Whitman

“Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe, a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble… Life and death flow into one, and there is neither evolution nor destiny- only Being.” – Albert Einstein

I have gathered together some my favourite words of wisdom; from a variety of sources, notebooks, sites etc and created a new page, A Turtle Awake (see just above the eye of Raika).

This has been something that I’ve wanted to do for a while now and will grow over time.  I am always seeking inspiration and find it, on occasion, through the words of others.  These words speak directly to my soul and stir me from my slumber.  They kick my mind out of the restrictions of the modern world, giving me perspective and clarity.  They keep me connected to the fertile grounds of inspiration and love.  They re-assure me that I am not alone on this journey and have never been, that this path is ours to share as one, reflecting and affecting each other.

I would like to share these few words with you all and hope they bring you the same joy and light.

Peace and Love,

Write about things that you’d like to read. Give a talk that you’d like to listen. Do the things that you’d like to see. Be the friend that you’d like to be with. Express your style so it honors your uniqueness. Serve in ways that displays your connectedness. Live a life that matters to you.

There is no such thing as a person.

There are only restrictions and limitations.

The sum total of these defines the person.

The person merely appears to be.

Just like the space within the pot appears to have the shape and volume and smell of the pot.

~ Nisargadatta

God meant to drop this mirror,
shattering into countless images
his perfect gaze.
This is why we meet in brokenness,
putting ourselves together again
through each other,
until we recognize one face
with eight billion reasons
for astonishment.

– Fred LaMotte
